Blog Carnival Strategies - 5 Tips for Getting the Most From Your Blog Carnival Submissions
June 23, 2008 by Kenton Newby
If you've been reading any of the blogs out there on internet marketing or online business, you probably know how valuable blog carnivals can be as a way to promote your site. Here are a few quick tips to help you get the most out of your blog carnival submissions.
1. Use a Good Title
Like most things related to marketing your site, copywriting is a key component. For blog carnivals, that specifically applies to the title. Just got take a look at any of the blog carnivals you're submitting to. Notice how nearly all of them just include the title of your post linked to that post on your site. Sometimes you'll also see a short description, but don't count on it.
Instead, come up with an eye-catching, compelling title that's going to make people want to click through to read that post. Remember, you're probably on a page with 20 or 30 other blog posts so it's important to have a title that stands out.
2. Make Sure Your Content is Easy to Read
Once you get people to your site, you want to be sure they actually read what you've posted. Make sure the content is easy to read. Online, you can get away with one sentence paragraphs to emphasize a point. Try to avoid long paragraphs that make your post hard to read or make it seem like it's going to take "work" to get through reading the whole thing.
Also, if your title is something like "10 quick tips…" then be sure to number them and separate them with bold text, sort of like this post. Some people will skim, some will read the whole post, so you want to appeal to both types of readers.
3. Consider Using Multimedia
You should think about using multimedia content in your posts. This could be as simple as adding an image to break up some of the monotony of an all-text post. Or you could add audio or video to some of your posts. If you use audio or video, be sure to mention that in the title of your post too.
4. Write More and Submit More
It's probably no shock that blog carnival submissions are like a lot of other things…it's a numbers game. The more quality posts you write and submit, the more likely you are to have your posts accepted, bringing more traffic to your site.
Just don't go overboard. If there are only a handful of blog carnivals in your market, there's probably no need to submit a blog post to the carnivals every single day. Just stick with your very best content for carnival submissions.
5. Consider Using a Submission Service or Software
If you're serious about getting traffic to your site using blog carnivals, you may want to consider using a blog carnival submission service. There are a few available online and a quick Google search will point you in the right direction.
If you'd rather avoid the monthly fee but still have your blog carnival submissions automated, then check out this blog carnival submission software tool. I've been using it for awhile now and it's been a huge time saver (keep an eye out for a product review on this shortly).
So that's a short list of tips to keep in mind when writing post for blog carnivals. What about you? What are your tips or what have you found to be an effective way to get the most out of blog carnivals?

Nice tips. I will have to start entering these blog carnivals, they look like a good traffic and networking tool.
Thanks, I'm still in the process of learning to use blog carnival so I found these quite useful
I stopped by to tell you that I’ve just published your article on the most recent Marketer Review Blog Carnival and I see the trackback didn’t work here either. I seem to be running at about 50% success on the trackbacks, and no clue why. I never had this happen before.
I stumbled your post just now. It seems I was the first to do so.
